The ketogenic diet was been used to treat Neurological disorders nearly 100 years ago.  This DIET is labeled the latest FAD diet.  The diet that is entirely unhealthy, eating nothing but processed food, the bacon diet.  Everyone on this diet will clog their arteries, die earlier the expected and be riddled of cancer.   The world is also still flat.

The ketogenic diet or way of life as some would call it is simply a metabolic state in which the body converts fat into ketones.  Lets make it easier.  You use Sugar or Fat for energy and fuel for your body.  Sugar is converted into glucose.  Fat is converted into Ketones.  All the talk about how you must eat carbs to survive is a lie.  In 2018 I did 4 longs fasts.   Two 6 day fasts. One 7 day fast.  One 10 day fast.  YES. I went 240 hours without eating.  The world record is 382 days.  The advantage that he and I both share.  Hundreds of pounds of energy wrapped around our bodies called FAT.

STRICT KETO:  Most people will suggest strict keto when your starting out.  This is one of the easiest ways to truly understand keto but the most challenging.  Strict keto you are typically measuring and counting everything.  It forces you to look and read every label.  You must decide how the item fits in your macros.  Strict Keto you are eating 100% clean.  You are not taking in any artificial sweeteners, no diet soda.  Some will say your eating all organic vegetables and only grass fed beef.   As clean as possible.  No chemicals at all.  Strict keto is not for everyone.  It can be quite overwhelming at the start.  If you do not have hundreds of pounds to lose then strict keto may be just what you need.

For me I did not have as much success on strict keto.  I was spending too much time trying to track every little thing i ate.  I spent time eating foods because it fit in my macros and met my calorie goal for the day.

LAZY KETO:  Lazy keto your watching and keeping carbs low.  You are either counting them or estimating them.  For me when I started off I had over 300 pounds of fat on my body.  Why do I need to eat fat to lose fat.  When I first started out, I cut all carbs.   I ate the 2 things I love to eat.  Meat and Cheese.  I took the bacon diet seriously.  I probably had a couple pounds of bacon a week and would easily have a big bowel of hamburger with cheese on it for dinner.   I have never been a big vegetable fan.  I lived off meat and cheese.  It worked.  If you are like me and near death obese, you know the person most people wonder why they exist or how they could get that big, then be lazy.   You have to find what works for you.  I had great results with lazy keto.

DIRTY KETO:  Dirty keto is when you eat all your food while playing in the mud.   You have to get dirty once in a while.  Seriously dirty keto is simply eating or drinking things that are not on some made up strict list of foods that are keto.   Diet soda is dirty keto.  The sugar free syrup in your Starbucks is dirty keto.  The bang energy drink on my desk is dirty keto.  The keto bars and prepackaged foods would be dirty keto.  I love watching the debates in Facebook groups from the keto police.  That maltodextrin in the food is terrible for you and not keto but it is allowed in the sugar free syrups in your Starbucks.  You want to be dirty then be dirty.  Just understand everything will have a different effect on each individual.  So where one person can drink their aspartame diet soda every day and still be in ketosis, the next person can have one drink and be kicked out.

Vegan Keto: simply sticking to a vegan diet and staying in ketosis.  More information on this to come in April when I give Vegan Keto a try after my 30 day fast.  It seems the challenge is getting enough protein with keeping your carbs low.  I will post as I make the transition from my fast to Vegan Keto.

Vegetarian Keto:   This will be my first transition back from Vegan Keto.  I do not know how long I will do Vegan keto before going to Vegetarian Keto.  My plan is to stay Vegan for at least 1 month.  I plan to slowly add milk products back in to see how my body reacts and eggs.

Carnivore Keto:  I have done carnivore keto for a few weeks.  Even though I love meat it does get boring having only meat everyday.  I have used it to break a stall to help eliminate all carbs for a short period of time.

Soft Keto:  Soft keto was a new term to me a month or so ago.  Basically you ease your self into ketosis.   So if your someone that has lived on sweets and junk food, it can be an unpleasant shock to just wake up one day and basically cut all carbs.   Slowly decrease down and transition into ketosis.

Targeted Keto:  You follow a keto diet except right before intense workouts you carb load.  Focus all your carbs right before training.  I am not to the body building stage and not sure I want to be but if I ever am you can read about this more.

Cyclical Keto:  This involves following a keto diet say Monday thru Friday and carb loading on Saturday and Sunday.  Carb loading days are usually once or twice a week.  Like targeted this is focused around intense muscle building.  Not ideal for weight loss.

Medical Keto:  The origin of it all.  Medical keto is super strict with a very high fat percentage.  You are eating close to 90% of your calories from fat.  This was used to treat epilepsy and neurological disorders back in the 1920s.
